BEN C. POWELL DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Benjamin C. Powell, a native of Madison county, died Nov. 24 at Orland, Calif., where he had been living in recent years. He was 77 years of age.

Mr. Powell was born north of Winterset Jan. 4, 1870, a son of Ruel B. and Jane Goff Powell, and spent the first 30 years of his life here. He was married at Winterset on Dec. 31, 1904, to Myrtle Dillon. They moved to Hillsdale, Wyo., where he owned and operated a ranch for many years.

He was a member of the Grange in Wyoming, and of the Federated church in Orland.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Vera Nicodemus of Hillsdale, and Mrs. Glennis Starbuck of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Neff of Fullerton, Calif., and Mrs. Beulah Hibbs of Winterset; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26 from the Federated church in Orland. The body was sent to Wyoming for burial at Hillsdale.
