RUSSELL BARBER BURIED SUNDAY

Well-Known Winterset Man Died Thanksgiving Day at Age 54

Last rites were conducted Sunday afternoon, Nov. 25, from Richards Funeral home in Winterset for Russell N. Barber.

Mr. Barber died Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, at Madison county Memorial hospital. He was 54 years of age and had been seriously ill with heart trouble the past two weeks.

The son of George and Lulu Barber, he was born June 22, 1902 on a farm in Scott township of this county. On Sept. 9, 1923, he was married to Cecile Clark of Winterset.

Almost his entire life was spent in Winterset and vicinity. He had been in business here for several years, being a car salesman for about 20 years. Later he went into the real estate business, and continued there until his health failed in the spring of 1955.

He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, and son Philip, now of Portland, Oregon; four grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Lulu Barber of Winterset; one brother, Walter Barber of West Des Moines; and one sister, Mrs. Carl Strable of Prole.

Officiating at the services Sunday was the Rev. Richard Mohr, pastor of the Grace Baptist church in Winterset. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
