September, 1964LONNIE PURSCELL DIES AT 49 YEARS
Lonnie D. Purscell, a resident of Winterset most of his life, died last Friday, Sept. 11 at University hospital in Iowa City. He was 49 years of age.
Mr. Purscell had been living at Greenfield the last five years. His life had been spent as a farmer and laborer.
He was born in Winterset Feb. 1, 1915, a son of LeRoy and Jennie White Purscell. He was married here on Aug. 6, 1937 to Leota Heath, who survives him.
He also leaves six sons, Lorn Purscell of Ft. Belvoir, Va., LaVern Purscell who is stationed in Germany, and Laurel, Lenard, Leon and Lester Purscell, all of Winterset; four daughters, Mrs. Lois Giles and Linda, LaVonne and Loretta Purscell, all of Winterset; and two grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Carol Purscell of Mingo; a sister, Mrs. Berniece Alloway of Newton; and two half sisters, Mrs. Lucy Waltz of Winterset and Mrs. Opal Watts of Lovilla.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the Wilson Funeral home in charge of the Rev. Leon Seager. Burial was to be made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery here.
