Services were held for James Michael Purscell, 24, Friday, June 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Murray, with Pastor Dennis Sanders officiating. Burial was at McGinnis Cemetery, Patterson.

Mr. Purscell died Tuesday, June 11, when the building he was working on in Murray collapsed.

Born at Des Moines, Sept. 25, 1960, he was the son of Betty Ann (Cooper) Clark of Winterset and James Edward Purscell of Mayflower, Ark. He married Sheila Rae Glazebrook on October 24, 1981 at Macksburg. A daughter, Heather Renee was born October 28, 1982.

He grew up in Winterset and graduated from Winterset High School. He joined the Army in 1979 and served six years at Fort Riley, Kan., Korea and Fort Polk, La. He returned to Murray in August 1984.

Survivors include his wife and daughter; his parents, James Purscell of Mayflower, Ark and Betty Clark of Winterset; five sisters, Norma (Mrs. Ron) Love of Earlham, Patricia Akers, Shelli Clark and Sandy Hathaway, all of Winterset and Valarie (Mrs. Donald) Kerns of Huxley; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Purscell of Hernando, Fla., Roy Cooper of Winterset and Frances Robbins of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother and a sister.
