MRS. MARY MONK DIED SATURDAY

Services Held Monday With Burial in Worthington Cemetery

Mrs. Mary Monk, a long-time resident of Madison county, died in Winterset Saturday, Oct. 13, at the age of 85 years.

Mrs. Monk was a native of Indiana, where she was born Sept. 9, 1871. She was the former Mary Adeline Ladd. She came to Madison county with her parents in childhood. Her life was spent in and near Madison county, with the exception of one year in Colorado.

She was married to Daniel Boone Monk at Adel on March 8, 1904. Their two daughters died in infancy, but they reared a nephew, Boyd Ladd, in their home. Mr. Monk died in 1941.

She is survived by two brothers, John Ladd of Winterset and Harvey Ladd of Denison.

Funeral services were held Monday from Anderson's home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. Eldon Haines, pastor of the Worthington church. Burial was made in the Worthington cemetery.
