J. W. CARTER OF ST. CHARLES DIES

Life-Long Resident There In Failing Health Since Last Winter

J. W. Carter, a life-long resident of the St. Charles community, died Saturday, Oct. 13, at his home there. He was 72 years of age, and had been in failing health since last winter.

Mr. Carter was born on a farm near St. Charles on June 12, 1884, a son of William A. and Mary E. Walkup Carter.

His active life was spent in farming, until his retirement 10 years ago, when he moved into St. Charles.

He was married in 1910 to Gayle Trumbauer of St. Charles. They were parents of two daughters.

He was a member of the St. Charles Methodist church and the Lions club in that community.

Surviving are his wife; the two daughters, Mrs. Alberta Boggess, of Harlan and Mrs. Thelma Weller of St. Charles; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the St. Charles Methodist church conducted by the Rev. Eldon Haworth. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
