Russell R. Price, Clarinda

Services for Russell R. Price, 79, rural Clarinda, who died July 21 at Municipal Hospital after an extended illness, were held Thursday, July 24, at the United Methodist Church in Clarinda with the Rev. Martin Miller officiating. Burial was at the Clarinda Cemetery.

Born Aug. 27, 1907 at Winterset, he was the son of LeMonte and Edna Johnston Price. He attended Winterset schools and graduated from Iowa State in 1930.

On July 18, 1931 he was married to Mary VanDevender who survives. After their marriage they lived in Oskaloosa four years where Mr. Price taught in the high school. In June of 1935 they moved to the farm in Valley township where they have since made their home.

Mr. Price was a science teacher in the Clarinda schools from 1956 until 1972. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 55-year member of Nodaway Masonic Lodge No. 140 A.F.& A.M. served, on the Clarinda Library Board, nine years on the Public Health Board and was chairman of the A.F.S. program for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Mrs. Marc (Nancy) Stevens, (Norma) Dunn, Oak Mount, Pa., and Mrs. Noel (Llyra) Thompson, Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by parents and a brother, Lloyd.
