MRS. LILAH POWERS OF LORIMOR DIES

Long-Time Resident in This Community Was 86 Years of Age

Mrs. Lilah Powers, a long-time resident of Madison county and recently of the Lorimor community, died at the Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset Sunday, July 19. She was 86 years of age. Death resulted from a cerebral hemorrhage.

Mrs. Powers was born March 16, 1876 in Jefferson county, a daughter of Richard and Louisa Russell. She was married at Fairfield on July 20, 1887 to Edward J. Powers. His death occurred in 1933. Two sons also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Powers lived in Madison county 27 years. In 1934 she moved to Lorimor, which was her home at the time of her death.

She is survived by seven children, Clarence E. Powers of Oskaloosa, Phillip F. Powers of Winterset, Mrs. Charles Speers of Harrisburg, Pa., Mrs. Georgia Veach of Chicago, Mrs. Paul Roby of Truro, Mrs. John Shearer of Omaha, and Mrs. Carl Wilson of Ames. She also leaves a brother, Harry Russell of St. Johns, Kan., 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Lorimor Methodist church. The body was taken to Illinois for burial.
