John Fudge's death occurred this morning at five o'clock following heart trouble and dropsy which have troubled him severely for three months. Mr. Fudge never recovered from an attack of influenza last winter.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon at the residence conducted by Rev. Jackson Giddens.

J. M. Fudge

J. M. Fudge was born in Cumberland county, Kentucky, August 22, 1852, and died at his home in Winterset November 19, 1919 at the age of 59 years, 2 months and 27 days.

When a small boy he came with his parents to Madison county and has lived here nearly all his life.

His health began to fail almost a year before his death. As he grew worse and realized that he was in critical condition he asked to be prayed with and a\made a profession of his faith in Christ. During the remainder of his day and months he was faithful and bore testimony to his friends of faith in Christ. During his last hours he sang and prayed.

He leaves to mourn his loss two children by a former marriage, Clyde Fudge of Earlham and Mrs. Bessie Brockman of Des Moines, a small grandson, two brothers, Will Fudge of Norwalk and C. A. Fudge of De Soto and other relatives,

Ten years ago last spring he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary Blackter, who has been a devoted wife and tenderly cared for him during his many months of sickness and with others mourns his departure.

The funeral services were conducted from the home by the Rev. Jackson Giddens, Pastor Methodist church, and the remains were laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.

Coordinator's note: Although this obituary and his gravestone say he was born in 1852, all census records indicate he was born in about 1862.
