Omer Ward Friberg was born on January 9, 1887 in Webster Township, Madison County, Iowa, and died at his home on August 3, 1912, aged 25 years, 6 months and 29 days.

His mother died on August 3, 1892. After the death of his mother, he made his home with his father until August 27, 1907, when he was united in marriage to Miss Dora Della Huston.

He was a young man of sterling character, happy and jovial disposition and known for his diligence. His health was almost perfect until last fall, when a ligamus cancer began to work on his system. After a time, it became necessary to amputate one of his limbs. For a time after the operation, his health seemed perfect, but the fatal poison was in his system and finally conquered the strong physical body.

On the 27th of last January, Omer and his wife gave their hearts to God and since that time they have been looking unto the Great Physician for help. Just a few days before his death, he told the writer that he was ready to go.

He is survived by his wife, father (Theodore) and one sister (Alice Bertha Mapes), one sister (Jessie) having preceded him on April 5, 1901. A host of friends join in sympathy with the bereaved ones, and while the home is broken, we rejoice in the fact that it will not always be so, for some day we shall meet to part no more.

Funeral services were held at the Pleasant View M. E. Church, Friday, August 9th, conducted by Rev. Roy Spooner and interment was in the Wight Cemetery.

Omar Fryberg died early Thursday morning, after several weeks of illness. Last winter, a sore developed on his limb, which became so serious he went to Mercy hospital, in Des Moines and had his limb amputated. It seemed to heal nicely, and after the necessary time had elapsed, he was around going about again as usual. In a short time, the sarcoma broke out again and after a few weeks of suffering, he passed away.

The funeral occurred at Pleasant View church Friday afternoon and the remains laid to rest in the Wight cemetery.
