Archie Powell Dies At Creston

Archie R. Powell of Creston died Monday, May 1 at his home there. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Powell was a native of Winterset. He was born here Oct. 20, 1893, a son of Theodore and Anna Mackrill Powell. He was married Feb. 20, 1916, to Elsie Sheldon, who survives him.

Mr. Powell had lived in Adams and Union counties since 1926 and at Cromwell from 1948 to 1968. His life was spent in farming.

He was a member of the United Methodist church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Glenn Powell of Carson and Raymond Powell of Jasper, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. John Krow of West Burlington; a brother, Francis Powell of Creston; and two sisters, Mrs. Marvin Van Syoc and Mrs. Arthur Jefferies, both of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the Keating-McKasson chapel in Creston, conducted by the Rev. J. Heber Miller of the United Methodist church. Burial was made in Graceland cemetery at Creston.
