1965ALBERT POWELL DIED HERE SUNDAY
Life-Long Resident of This County Was 85 Years Of Age
Albert A. Powell, a long-time resident of Winterset, died Sunady, March 21 at a Winterset nursing home. He was 85 years of age.
Mr. Powell was born in this county June 11, 1879, a son of Charles and Matilda Bradigan Powell. His entire life was spent in Madison county.
His active life was spent as a farmer and laborer. He was a member of the United Brethren church.
Mr. Powell was married Dec. 5, 1900, at Winterset, to Nancy L. Cooper. She preceded him in death, as also did two of their sons, Earl and Charles Powell.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Helen Way of Norwalk, Mrs. Merle Downs of St. Charles, Mrs. Lawrence Epperson of Pueblo, Colo., Mrs. Alberta Patience of Des Moines, Mrs. Edna Smith of Picayunne, Miss., and Mrs. Christina Simmerman of Peru; two sons, Mark Powell of Dunlap and Maurice Powell at home; 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Wilson Funeral home here, in charge of the Rev. William E. Bowles, pastor of First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was made in Union Chapel cemetery in Scott township. (South township)
