Services Held For William Pottorff

William Earl Pottorff of Winterset died Thursday, August 9, at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 62. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery with Pastor Robert Toso officiating.

The son of William S. and Ida Reddick Pottorff, he was born on September 11, 1916 at Leon. He was married to Orpha Stubbs, who survives him, on July 21, 1939 at Unionville, Missouri

An army veteran of World War II, Mr. Pottorff was assistant county engineer in Madison County for 16 years, having retired in 1978. He lived in Winterset 17 years and was a member of American Legion Post 184 and Iowa Engineering Society.

Also surviving are three sons, Earl of Mazeppa, Minn.; Merle of Winterset and Joel of St. Charles; two daughters, Mrs. Paula Glade of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Gail Young of Lawton, Oklahoma; four sisters, Orpha Tullis of Redding, California, Beulah Schultz of Ottumwa, Vera Barnhart of Central City, California, and Ruth Cesler of Leon; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Ervin; and a sister, Helen Chandler.
