Orpha Geneva Pottorff, 74, of Truro, died of cancer Aug. 5, 1996 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. Funeral services were held Aug. 10 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Officiating the services was the Rev. Bobby Dickerson and burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 29, 1921 in Clarke County to Adrian and Laura (Warrick) Stubbs. She married Earl Pottorff on July 21, 1939 at Unionville, Mo. and was a retired laboratory and x-ray technician for the Madison County Memorial Hospital. She lived in Osceola and Creston prior to coming to Winterset in 1962. She then moved to Ironton, Mo. in 1980, but returned to Truro in 1993. She belonged to the First Christian Church in Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; thirteen brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Earl Pottorff and wife Nancy of Lake St. Louis, Mo., Merle Pottorff and wife Pat of Truro, and Joel Pottorff and wife Marilyn of St. Charles; two daughters, Paula Glade and husband Walt of Council Bluffs and Gail Young and husband Ed of Sioux City; one brother, Russell Stubbs and wife Hazel of Carthage, Mo.; she raised William Hackley and wife Sue of DeSoto; two sisters Mary Sayers of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Doris Foland of Decatur; twenty-two grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
