MRS. JAMES GILLASPIE,

Mrs. James Gillaspie, of Crawford twp., died at 2:25 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27th, after a lingering illness of one year. She was buried in the Catholic cemetery of Churchville Oct. 29th.

Mrs. Gillaspie's maiden name was Anne Kiernan. She was born in Drumconrath Co. Meath, Ireland, came to America in 1851, was married to James Gillaspie on the 6th of April 1856, in St. Francis Xaviore Church, New York City. She left New York 2 days later, coming directly to Madison county.

She leaves a husband, 3 sons & 3 daughters.

Mrs. Gillespie Passes Away.

Died:--Mrs. James Gillespie on Thursday morning, October the 28th, aged 67 years. Deceased was an old settler of Crawford township and one of the most beloved and respected women of this vicinity. The funeral was held on Saturday from the Catholic church in Churchville, Father Molyneaux celebrating Requiem high mass after which she was laid to rest in the cemetery at that place. The respect in which the Gillespie family is held in Madison county was testified on the day of the funeral when despite the almost impassable roads and stormy weather people came dozens of miles to attend the funeral.

Mrs. Gillespie leaves her husband, three daughters and three sons, all married but two sons, James W. who is studying for the priesthood, and Thomas the youngest son.
