Services for Ola Armenta Porter, 96, a native of Madison County and former Peru resident, who died Nov. 7 at the Winterset Care Center South, were held Thursday, Nov. 10 at the United Methodist Church at Peru with the Rev. Janne Clinton of New Virginia and Merril Tuttle of St. Charles officiating. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.
Born Apr. 5, 1887, she was the daughter of Joshua and Beatrice Mease Simmons. She attended rural schools in Madison County and was married in Winterset Dec. 25, 1910 to Walter William Porter.
Survivors include a son, Walter Porter and wife Ruby of Norwalk; a daughter, Lois Tuttle and husband Merril of St. Charles; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, a son, two brothers and three sisters.
