Rites Held For Porter

Retired farmer Lyle Ellsworth Porter, 76, died Thursday, August 4 at the Des Moines General Hospital following a long illness. Born July 14, 1901 in Lorimor, son of Fred and Daisy Porter, he lived in Madison County for 47 years.

On February 9, 1925, Mr. Porter married Opal Marie Davis of Council Bluffs. Survivors include his wife and children; Gerald Porter of Des Moines and Phyllis Stevens of Waukee.

Also surviving him are a sister, Gertrude L. Finnane of Des Moines and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services were held Monday August 8, at Collins Funeral Home. Dr. Paul Hann officiated with burial made at the Peru Cemetery.
