May 11, 1960BABY ENROUTE TO DES MOINES DIES
An attempt to save the life of a new-born infant, by rushing it to Des Moines for special medical treatment, was unavailing here Monday when the infant died enroute.
The baby was Charles Keith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clair V. Porter of Winterset. He was born Sunday at Memorial hospital here, and it became necessary to get him to Des Moines. He was taken Monday by car, with a special escort provided by the state highway patrol. But death occurred as they were on highway No. 92 east of Winterset.
The baby is survived by his parents and two sisters, Christine and Joy.
Burial with graveside services will be held this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hazelwood cemetery in Grinnell.
