1977Bernice Pope Dies in California
Word has been received here of the death of a former Winterset resident, Bernice DeVault Pope, at her home in Sebastopol, California March 1st of an apparent heart attack.
Mrs. Pope was born November 6, 1906 the daughter of Gladys Bailey DeVault and Ralph DeVault. She grew up in this county and was a graduate of Winterset High School.
She is survived by her husband, George Pope, their daughter, Shirley Amato of San Francisco, California, two grandsons, a granddaughter and two brothers, Lloyd of Fresno, California and Clair of Hawaii.
Memorial servives were held in Santa Rosa.
Mr. and Mrs. Pope had been in Winterset May 25th for graveside services for her mother.
