Grace Pollitt, Truro

Grace Elizabeth Pollitt, 86, of Truro died April 15, 2003, at her home.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 18, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Truro with the Rev. Roselyn Harbart officiating. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Indianola.

Grace Pollitt was born Feb. 27, 1917 in Allerton, Ill. to William E. and E. Effie (Hillary) Rice. She spent her early years in Allerton. On Nov. 10, 1934, she married Roscoe Pollitt in Danville, Ill. Grace helped on the family farm near Truro, where she had resided for the past 40 years. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Truro.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ernest Rice,Eugene Rice and Charles Rice; four sisters, Marie Scaff, Leona Pollard, Helen Pollitt and Mable Rice; and a grandson, Jeffery Brown.

She is survived by her husband, Roscoe of Truro; three daughters, Peggy Murrow of Ellston, Doris Brown of Osceola and Carol Spurlock of North Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Roy Rice of Arcola, Ill.; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice in Winterset.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Home of Truro.
