Rod Podoll, Winterset

Rod Podoll, 56, of Winterset died Feb. 11, 2005 at his home. Funeral services were held Tuesday Feb. 15, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steve Koch officiating. Burial was at North McDonald Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Madison County.

Rod Podoll was born Aug. 12, 1948 in Adams, Wis., to Donald and Phoebe (Lynn) Podoll. He was a 1966 graduate of Adams Friendship High School. He also was veteran of the United States Army, serving two tours in Vietnam. His marriage to Lois Boetel took place Dec. 28, 1974, at the Concordian Lutheran Church in Lake Park. In 1988, he and his family moved to Winterset.

During his career, Rod was an auto mechanic as well as a truck driver. He was employed as a driver with Capital City Fruit of Norwalk for the past 17 years. He also taught auto mechanics at Des Moines Area Community College. He was a member of the Mid American Pulling Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of Winterset; three daughters, Janine Wilson of Jackson, Minn., Michelle Podoll of Britt and Miranda Podoll of Winterset; one son, Michael Podoll of Winterset; a sister, Pam Bleich of Campbellsport, Wis.; a brother, Randy Podoll of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
