July 21, 1976R. W. Platt Dies At 83
An 83-year-old, retired Madison County farmer, Roy William Platt, died last Wednesday, July 14, 1976, at his home in Webster township.
Dr. Thomas Bergstrom, Madison County Medical Examiner, attributed the death to suicide by hanging.
Roy Platt was born March 28, 1893, the son of Lewis and Mary Augustine Platt. His wife, Nellie Murrell, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Francis R. Platt of Macksburg and a daughter, Marie Virginia Platt of rural Winterset. Also three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Platt was preceded in death by his wife, one sister and one brother.
Funeral services for Roy William Platt were conducted Friday, July 16, at 2 p.m. from Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church near Macksburg, Rev. John H. Ackerman officiating.
Burial was made at Moon Cemetery, Watts-Lindsay Funeral Home of Lorimor in charge of arrangements.
