MRS. ROY PLATT OF WINTERSET DIES

Death Occurred Monday While Being Transferred to Des Moines Hospital

Mrs. Roy W. Platt of near Winterset died Monday, April 3, en route to a Des Moines hospital where she was being transferred from Memorial hospital in Winterset.

Mrs. Platt was 71 years of age and was a life-time resident of Madison county. She was the former Nellie D. Murrell, daughter of Fred and Jennie Macumber Murrell, and was born at Barney June 24, 1895. She was married there April 21, 1915 to Roy W. Platt, who survives her.

Mrs. Platt was a member of the First Methodist church at Winterset and Wesley Chapel church, where she was a member of the Women's society for Christian Service. She was also a member of the Madison county Farm Bureau and the Friendly Neighbor Garden Club.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Virginia Platt at home; a son, Francis R. Platt of Macksburg; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Thompson of Roland and Mrs. Robert Barcroft of Lorimor; and four step-brothers.

Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. this Wednesday from Wesley Chapel, in charge of the Rev. W. W. Richardson of Macksburg. Burial was made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
