MRS. CLETA SPILLERS DIES AT WINTERSET

Resident Here Past 12 Years Dies at Home of Daughter

Mrs. Cleta V. Spillers, a resident of Winterset the last 12 years died Saturday, Aug. 25 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Morrissey, of Winterset. She was 80 years of age, and had been an invalid since breaking her hip in a fall three and a half years ago.

Mrs. Spillers was the former Cleta Vilette Walters, daughter of Wesley and Caroline Walters. She was born Sept. 19, 1875, near the Panther community in Dallas county. Her life was spent in and around Dallas county, until coming to Winterset 12 years ago.

On Dec. 11, 1892, she was married to Isaac Thompson, who preceded her in death. They were parents of three sons. Her second marriage occurred on Jan. 14, 1909, to Roscoe Spillers, and they were parents of two sons and a daughter. Mr. Spillers also preceded her in death.

She is survived by five sons, Cloyd Thompson of Des Moines, Walter Thompson of Toronto, S. Dak., Joy Thompson of Brookings, S. Dak., Vernon Spillers of Earlham, and Cole Spillers of Dexter; the daughter, Mrs. Lucile Morrissey of Winterset; two step-daughters, Mrs. Henrietta Lorenzen of North Star, Canada and Mrs. Rachel Crowl of Redfield; 17 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Buchanan of Winneconne, Wisc.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Church of the Brethren in Dallas county, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Paul E. Miller. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
