Leonard W. Pinckney, son of George E. and Grace Sinemous (Simmons) Pinckney was born near Macksburg, Nov. 23, 1912. He was educated in the Macksburg school, graduating from the high school in 1930.
He was a member of the Baptist Church from childhood.
On July 3, 1937 he was married to Marian Ramsden of Earlham, Iowa. To this union five children were born, one son dying in infancy. The wife and mother, died Aug. 30, 1970.
On Sept. 4, 1971, Leonard married Mrs. Irma Sanderson of Cedar Rapids, who survives him.
Surviving children are: Mrs. Robert Cout of Marion, Ia.; Larry Pinckney of Des Moines; Barbara and Debora Pinckney of Cedar Rapids; also four grandsons, one step-son, one step daughter and two step grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters also survive him. Funeral services were held Sept. 8, in the First Baptist Church in Marion, Iowa, the Rev. Lyle W. Lee officiating.
Burial was in the Moon Cemetery near Macksburg.
