MAY PINCKNEY DIES AT 87 YEARS

Was Well-Known Macksburg Resident Most Of Life

Mrs. May Pinckney of Winterset, a well-known resident of the Macksburg community most of her life, died Thursday, March 30 at Memorial hospital here. She was 87 years of age.

Mrs. Pinckney was a daughter of William H. and Mary Ann Davis Weeks. She was born in Madison county April 29, 1879. She was married Feb. 10, 1901 to Lawrence Pinckney. His death occurred in 1949.

As a young woman, Mrs. Pinckney taught in the rural schools of Monroe and Webster townships. Mrs. Pinckney attended Simpson college at Indianola and later taught in the rural schools of Monroe and Webster townships. She later operated an insurance agency in Macksburg, was connected with the old Macksburg National banks and for 25 years worked for the Southern Utilities company there.

She was a member of the First Christian church of Winterset and was a former member of the Rebekah lodge at Macksburg.

Nearest surviving relatives are a sister, Mrs. Blanche Powers of Winterset; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Wilson Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. William Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church here. Burial was made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
