Zilpha Alberta Pickens, Peru

Services for Zilpha Alberta Pickens, 80, Peru, a lifelong resident of Madison County who died at the Madison County Memorial Hospital Feb. 8, were held at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. Janne Clinton of New Virginia officiating. Burial was in the Peru Cemetery.

Born in St. Charles Sept. 3, 1902, she was the daughter of Thomas Casper and Mary Frances Little Corsbie. She grew up in Madison County and attended schools here. She married Samuel Pickens Dec. 15, 1920 in Osceola.

She was a member of the VFW auxiliary and the Methodist Church at Peru.

Survivors include a son, Berdean Pickens of Peru; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Cleveland, Texarkana, Ark.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Wilson of Urbandale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a son, Robert, two great-grandchildren, two sisters and four brothers.
