Mary Picken Death At Washington

Mary L. Picken, a former resident of Madison county, died Wednesday, October 31, 1973 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa. She was 88 years of age.

Mrs. Picken was born November 25, 1884 in Indianola, Iowa, the daughter of William F. and Florence Martin Law. She was married to Rev. Samuel C. Picken June 16, 1909 at St. Charles, where she had been reared and attended school.

A former missionary to Pakistan with her husband, Mrs. Picken was affiliated with the United Presbyterian Church and had lived in Washington since 1958.

Surviving Mrs. Picken is a son, Lt. Col. James L. Picken of Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Illinois; two daughters, Kathryn Picken of Stony Point, New York and Mrs. Arthur (Arline) Lincoln of Montpelier, Vermont; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Picken was preceded in death by her husband, November 30, 1969, also a brother and a sister.

Funeral services were conducted from the Sherman-Eden Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, with Dr. William Ross and Dr. Hugh Milne officiating.

Burial was made at the Elm Grove Cemetery.

A trust fund has been established in honor of Mrs. Pickens.
