FORMER TRURO RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. Edwin Phillips Had Lived in Des Moines Since 1950

Mrs. Edwin Phillips, formerly of Truro, died Sunday, Jan. 31 at her home in Des Moines. She was 63 years of age.

Most of Mrs. Phillips life had been spent in the Truro community. She was the former Zelma Myers and was born at Murray on Sept. 19, 1896, a daughter of John and Martha Myers. At Truro she was a chapter member of the Thursday Girls club and was a member of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of World War I. She and her husband moved to Des Moines in 1950.

She was married Jan. 5, 1917 in Des Moines to Edwin Phillips who survives her. She also leaves three daughters, Mrs. Theola Donner of Lorimor, Mrs. Lola McKee of St.Charles and Mrs. Georgia Smith of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; two brother, Floyd Myers of Peru and Bert Myers of Murray; and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Keys of Murray and Mrs. Nellie Bierma of Sutherland, Nebr.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the Truro Congregational Christian church, in charge of the Rev. Charles Miller, pastor of the College Avenue Christian church. Burial was to be made in the Peru cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips Rites at Truro

Services for Mrs. Edwin Phillips, 63, of 1315 Fifty-sixth st., who died of a heart attack Sunday at her home, will be at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday at the Congregational Christian Church in Truro. Burial will be in the cemetery there.

A native of Murray, Mrs. Phillips lived most of her life in Truro before coming here eight years ago. She was a member of the College Avenue Christian Church.

Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Spencer Donner of Lorimor, Mrs. Wyman McKee of St. Charles and Mrs. Darwin Smith of Des Moines, and eight grandchildren.
