Robert Kenneth Phillips, 85, of Winterset died of a heart attack June 3, 2002, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

A private family graveside service will be held with Pastor Scott O'Connor officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Robert Phillips was born Dec. 23, 1916 in Madison County to Elmer Clay and Mary Catherine (Patterson) Phillips. He married Mary E. Farlow on Sept. 21, 1940, in Newton. A retired farmer, Robert spent most of his lifetime in Truro until moving to Winterset in November of 1981. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset and a charter member of the Truro Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and a granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Winterset; two daughters, Catharine Mae Kubik of Osceola and Elizabeth Ann Woods of Winterset; a son, Dennis Robert Phillips (wife Peggy) of Peru; a brother, Marvin Phillips of Truro; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Madison County 4-H or Middle River Hospice.
