Services for Paul Alton Phillips, 81, Peru, who died Aug. 14 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18 at the United Methodist Church in Truro with the Rev. Ann Louise Weisenfluh officiating. Burial will be at the Ebenezer Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 31, 1906 in Madison County, the son of Chester A. and Camella Moore Phillips.
Mr. Phillips farmed in the Peru area and was a life-long resident. He attended Peru schools and graduated from Truro High School.
He belonged to the Ivy Lodge No. 483 A.F. and A.M. at Truro and the Methodist church. Mr. Phillips was married Feb. 25, 1934 to Bernice Sawhill at New Virginia.
Survivors include his wife; son, Leon and wife Donna of Peru; daughters, Bethene Stafford and husband Robert of West Des Moines and Paula Nicholson of Dubuque; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and six brothers.
