William John Cellan

William John Cellan was born Nov. 16, 1852 In Louisa County, Iowa, close to Morning Sun, and was at the time of this death 75 years, 4 months, and 16 days old.

In 1875 he was united in marriage to Ann Foglesong. To this union was born seven children: Mrs. Arthur Kilmer of Winterset, Mrs. C. P. Meade of Patterson, Alexander Cellan of St. Charles, Silas Cellan of Sioux City, Mrs. Fred V. Carson of Des Moines, Mrs. V. C. Cunningham and Ionia Edna Cellan of Patterson.

In 1894 he united with the Baptist church at Lucas County, Iowa. In his middle age he traveled to Patterson, settling in the old home place. He was a practical veterinary at trade. He has driven the consolidated school bus for three years.

He was loved by all who knew him. A faithful and loving father and grandfather and a good willing neighbor. A word of sorrow was expressed by him to anyone in trouble.

William John Cellan

William John Cellan was born in Louisa county, Iowa, in 1850 and died at his home in Patterson March 23d, being 75 years old.

In 1875 he was married to Margaret Anne Goglesong. To this union were born seven children, all of whom were with their father at his death, Mrs. Arthur Kilmer, of Winterset; Mrs. Fred Carson, of Des Moines; Silas, of Sioux City; Alex, of St. Charles; Mrs. Chester Mead, Mrs. Verle Cunningham and Miss Iona, of Patterson. Mrs. Cellan is also left to mourn his death. Three brothers and a sister, all from Oklahoma, were unable to be there.

Mr. Cellan united with the Baptist church in 1894. He will be especially missed among the school pupils who wrote in the school wagon which he had driven the past five years.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist Church by the pastor. Burial was at Montpelier Cemetery.
