JACKSON TOWNSHIP RESIDENT DIES
Funeral services were held Aug. 21 from the Early Chapel church for Joseph E. Jones, well known Jackson township farmer for many years, whose death occurred Saturday, Aug. 18 at his home there.
Mr. Jones was 80 years of age at his death. He was a native of Ohio, where he was born Nov. 14, 1875, one of eight children born to Basil and Sarah Watts Jones. He came to Iowa with his parents, the family settling in Jackson township, where he spent the remainder of his life.
He was married to Grace Lowden on Aug. 26, 1914. They were parents of three daughters.
He had been a member of the Early Chapel church for 60 years, serving on the official board for 40 years. At the time of his death, he was an elder in the church.
Surviving are his wife; the three daughters, Mildred, Lucile Lamb, and Alice Herker, all of Des Moines.
Services were held at Early Chapel church Aug. 21, with Rev. Wm. Dilsaver in charge. Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
