C. A. PHILLIPS OF TRURO DIES

Death Occurs at Webster City at Age of 91 Years

Chester A. Phillips of Truro, a resident of Madison county for 60 years, died Sunday, June 19 at Webster City, where he had been visiting a son recently. He was 91 years of age.

Mr. Phillips was a native of West Liberty, where he was born April 4, 1869, a son of Noah and Meriah Ohern Phillips. He came to Madison county about 1900. His active life was spent in farming. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Truro for over 50 years.

He was married at West Liberty on Nov. 16, 1893, to Comella Moore. They were parents of seven sons and a daughter. One son Mansell Phillips, was killed while serving with the U. S. armed forces in World War I. Another son, Nelson, also preceded the father in death. The wife and mother died in 1944.

He leaves five son, Russell Phillips of Winterset, Carroll Phillips of Truro, Paul Phillips of Peru, Leland Phillips of Abilene, Kan.; the daughter, Mrs. Gretchen Lammey of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, in charge of the Rev. Dale Lockart. Burial was to be made in the Peru cemetery.
