Lonnie Leonard Pettit, 87, 411 S. Pine Street, died Nov. 19, 1994 at his home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeanne Groom of Prescott officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. There is open visitation after 10 a.m. today and a family night from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Rainbow Park.
Mr. Pettit was born July 1, 1907 in Adair County to William and Maggie (Schlect) Pettit. He attended rural school in Adair County. On Nov. 14, 1934, he married Lillian Harrison at Winterset. He farmed in the Winterset area after his marriage and in Union County from 1945 until retiring in 1969. He moved to Creston in 1966.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Pettit of Creston; three daughters, Lois (husband Fritz) Weis of Afton, Linda (husband Jack) Hanrahan of Prole and LaDonna (husband Mike) Short of Creston; two sons Leonard (wife Jeannie) of Afton and Lowell (wife Janet) of Creston; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Giles of Fontanelle and Emma Dory of Creston; and a sister-in-law, Daisy Mapes of Winterset.
