Lois Pettit, Winterset

Lois Jean Pettit, 60, of Winterset, died of cancer Jan. 12, 1997 at her residence. Funeral services will be Jan. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. Father Frank Palmer will officiate the services and burial will be at the Greenfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Wed., Jan. 15 from 4-6 p.m. at the Parish Hall. A Rosary service will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil service will follow at 7 p.m. at the Parish Hall.

She was born in Guthrie Center on Sept. 27, 1936 to Martin Bernard and Velva Clyde (Nelson) Lydon. She married Donald Ray Pettit on March 15, 1958 in Greenfield. She was a homemaker and a resident of Winterset since 1961, coming here from Greenfield where she was a 1954 graduate. She was also an Avon Representative for 14 years and a dietary aid at Bethesda Nursing Home in Winterset for eight years. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Ladies Auxiliary; St. Joseph's Altar Society; V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary; and the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, and one sister.

Surviving relatives include her husband of Winterset; three sons, Chuck Halberg of Davenport, Roger Pettit and wife Diane of Rowlett, Texas; and Gary Pettit and wife Linda of The Colony, Texas; two daughters, Dawn Keith and husband J. of Littleton, Colo., and Deanna Zekkour and husband Mohamed of Sugar Land, Texas; four brothers, Tommy Lydon of Adair, Lawrence Lydon of Greenfield, Earl Lydon of Fontanelle, and Bob Lydon of Greenfield; five sisters, Lucille Johnson of Dvenport, Veronica Sloss of Des Moines, Gladys Cox of Rock Island, Ill., Arlene Jensen of Ankeny, and Delores Rogers of Heber Springs, Ark., and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church or Middle River Hospice.
