Captain W. R. Shriver received a telegram Friday from his son, A. B. Shriver, who with his family has been spending the winter in Los Angeles, that Marjorie, their youngest daughter, had died from the effects of an operation undertaken in the vain effort to save her life. The little girl was only three years old. If connections are made the party will arrive Saturday and the funeral will probably be held Monday.

Death of Marjorie Shriver

Little Marjorie, the three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Shriver, died at Ocean Park, California on last Thursday. The family ae now on their sad homeward journey and will probably reach Winterset tomorrow, but no funeral announcements can be made at this time.

Before their departure for the coast last all the family were in quarantine for scarlet fever, an older daughter having the disesae in a light form. After their release from quarantine they went to Los Angles, where Mr. Shriver has business interests, to spend the winter. Soon after their arrival there little Marjorie took the disease in a most virulent form. With skillful nursing and the best medical aid that science affords, she survived the fever but never fully recovered.

A few weeks ago the family moved to Ocean Park, hoping that the sea breeze would restore her to her usual health. It was here that a specialist was consulted and it was found that an operation was necessary as the only hopes of saving her life but her enfeebled condition was unable to withstand the ordeal and she died as stated above. Her death is one of unusual sadness and has aroused the deepest sympathy in may Winterset homes
