Dr. James E. Petersen, 72, of Winterset died March 13, 2004 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tues., March 16 at St. Joeeph Catholic Church in Winterset. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Jim Petersen was born March 29, 1931 in Chicago, Ill., to Earl and Jesse (Woida) Petersen. On June 11, 1955, he married Marjorie A. Maze at St. Mary of Celle in Berwyn, Ill. He attended school at St. Mel's Catholic School in Chicago, and received his degree in dentistry from Loyola University, also in Chicago. Jim owned a dental practice for 33 years in Lombard, Ill. He was a member of the Lions Club and a veteran of the United States Army, attaining the rank of captain.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Winterset; two sons, Robert Petersen of Madison, Wis., and Lawrence Petersen of Alabama; two daughters, Karen Petersen of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Barbara LaGrange of Winterset; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
