Andrew Petersen, Winterset

Andrew Petersen, son of Soren and Kristina Jensen Petersen, was born April 22, 1907 at Brayton, Iowa in Cass County. He died at Winterset Care Center South, on June 12, 1987 at the age of 80 years.

Andrew received his education in the Brayton and Madison County schools. On September 11, 1939, he was married to Edna Young in St. Charles. Two children were born to this union.

He was a farmer and moved to a farm near Truro from Indianola in 1948. They lived there until 1983, when they retired and moved to St. Charles. He belonged to Ivy Lodge #483 A.F. & A.M. at Truro.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna on June 5, 1987; one sister, Marie Andersen; and one brother, Lawrence Petersen.

He is survived by: daughter, Jean Williams of Des Moines; son, David Petersen of Altoona, Iowa; four grandchildren and one sister, Alma McKinney of Winterset.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro with Rev. Jim Nicholson of Truro officiating. Burial was in Blair Chapel Cemetery in Madison County.

Andrew Petersen Dies June 12

Andrew Petersen, 80, St. Charles, died Friday, June 12 at the Care Center in Winterset. Services were held from the Kale Funeral Home in Truro Tuesday, June 16 with the Reverend James Nicholson of Truro officiating at the 10 a.m. rites. Interment was in Bethel Chapel Cemetery in Madison County.

Andrew Petersen was born April 22, 1907, in Brayton, Cass County, Iowa, son of Soren Peterson and Kristina Jensen Petersen. He attended schools in Brayton and Madison County. He was married September 11, 1939 to Edna Young in St. Charles. Two children were born to this union.

He was a farmer by occupation, moving to a farm near Truro from Indianola in 1948 and in 1983 moving to St. Charles. He was a member of Ivy Lodge #483 A.F. & A.M. at Truro.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Williams and husband, Charles of Des Moines; son, David Petersen and wife, Sandra of Altoona; four grandchildren, Kristine Williams, and Kathleen Williams of Des Moines; Laura and Michael Petersen of Altoona; and one sister, Alma McKinney of Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; Edna; sister, Marie Andersen; and brother, Lawrence Petersen.
