MRS. GORHAM PALMER DIED LAST FRIDAY

Funeral Services Held Here Monday With Burial at Barney

Mrs. Gorham Palmer, who lived northwest of Winterset for many years, died here Friday, March 23 at the age of 88 years. In recent years she had lived at a Winterset nursing home.

Mrs. Palmer was born near Eddyville on Jan. 26, 1868. She was the former Ida M. Whited, daughter of Francis and Mary Ann Beedel Whited.

She was married to Gorham Palmer at Mt. Ayr on July 4, 1888. They were parents of eight children. The husband and three children preceded her in death.

Mrs. Palmer became a member of the United Brethren church when she was 16 years of age.

Surviving are five children, Mrs. Roy Hiskey of St. Joseph, Mo., Gorham Palmer of Des Moines, Clarence Palmer of Peru, and Lawrence Palmer and Mrs. Hannah Cox of Winterset. She also leaves 31 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Emma Palmer of Norfolk, Nebr.; and a brother, William M. Whited of Mason City.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards funeral home, conducted by the Rev. George DeF. Fisher, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Barney cemetery.
