LENORA CESSNA SERVICES TODAY

Long-Time Resident of This County Died Sunday at Memorial Hospital

Mrs. Lenora Cessna, a resident of Madison county during most of her life, died at Memorial hospital in Winterset Sunday, March 18, following a stroke. She had been in ill health several months.

Mrs. Cessna was 81 years of age at her death. She was the former Lenora Tilton, one of a family of 10 children born to Thomas W. and Phoebe Ellen McClain Tilton. She was born in Madison county Sept. 28, 1874, and her early life spent in this community.

She was married Sept. 7, 1902, to John W. Cessna, at St. Joseph, Mo. They made their home in St. Joseph until his death, in December, 1909, following which she returned to Madison county. She spent several years south of Winterset, then moved into town, and this community had been her home since that time.

She was a member of the Winterset Christian church for 40 years.

Mrs. Cessna was the mother of four children, one child dying in infancy, and a son, Charles Cessna, killed in a tractor accident in 1941.

She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Clark of Winterset; a son, Austin Cessna of Indianola; three grandchildren, Judity and James Cessna of Indianola and Janice Vee Clark of Winterset; two brothers, William H. Tilton and Homer G. Tilton, both of Winterset; and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Perkins of Indianola and Mrs. Lillian Murphy of Davenport.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Christian church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Warren Hile. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
