Hershel “Squirt” Dingeman, 76, of Pella died of cancer Thursday at Pella Regional Health Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Pella, of which he was a member. Burial with military rites will be at Oakwood Cemetery there.

Mr. Dingeman was born in Monroe. He was the retired founder of Pella Precast Concrete Co. and an army veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 89 and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Pella. He enjoyed people, caring for his yard and spending time at ocean beaches.

He is survived by his wife, A. Gene; four sisters, Muriel Thomas of Winterset, Betty Carlson of Evanston, Ill., Uella Peters of Pella and Pricilla Steenhoek of Otley; and two brothers, James and Daniel both of Pella.

Friends may call after noon today at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church’s van fund or Hospice of Pella Comfort House.
