Frank Davis, Chariton

Frank F. Davis, 87, of Chariton died of complications of a stroke Jan. 27, 2003, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Family will be present at the church to receive friends at 1 p.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral service. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Chariton Cemetery. A luncheon will be held immediately following the graveside services at the First United Methodist Church in Chariton, where the family will be present to greet friends.

Frank Davis was born April 24, 1915, to Arthur M. and Lola Ellen (Fitch) Davis of Sterling, Colo. On June 1, 1941 he married Bonnie McNeer in Princeton, Mo. a lifelong resident of Chariton, he had worked in tire sales for Davis Tire and Battery and later was employed with Montgomery Ward. Frank was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 0102 and Masonic Lodge 63, all of Chariton, and the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine of Altoona. He also was a United States Navy veteran, serving in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and four sisters, Ada, Hazel, Helena and Freda.

He is survived by a son, Blair F. Davis of Littleton, Colo.; a daughter, Lynn LaFollette of Winterset; a sister, Opal Countryman of Washington State; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice of Winterset or the Chariton Public Library.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
