Dorene Dee Burch, 55, died of cancer May 22, 2003 at her home. Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Brooks Funeral Care University Chapel, with burial at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Orilla, IA.

The youngest of 13 children, Dorene was born in Des Moines and lived in the Valley Junction area all of her life. She was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral and the care provider for her grandson. Dorene enjoyed the outdoors and her family’s activities.

She is survived by daughters, Anne Pederson and Julie Moberg, both of Des Moines and Nancy Kuehl of West Des Moines; son, Richard Neal of Earlham; brothers, Robert Burch of Bevington, IA, Paul Burch and Wayne Burch, both of West Des Moines, Bernard Burch, Jr. and Jerry Burch, both of Des Moines and Joseph Burch of Orilla; sisters, Ruth Peacock and Fran Thompson, both of Des Moines and Marge McBurney of West Des Moines; eleven grandchildren; and long time companion, Dennis Garcia of West Des Moines. She was preceded in death by infant son, Scotty Joe Ervin, her parents and three sisters.

Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. A special thank you to Sara Walsh and all the Hospice of Central Iowa staff.
