ELMER CONARD OF PATTERSON DIES

Elmer Conard of Patterson, a life-long resident of Madison and Warren counties, died Friday, March 2, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Conard was born June 1, 1877, a son of Jackson and Jane Conard. He was married Sept. 26, 1906, to Jennie Mae Schwab, whose death occurred in 1920. On Sept. 10, 1939, he was married to Jennie Hulbert, who survives him.

Mr. Conard was employed for many years by the Chicago-Great Western railroad, but had retired from that work several years ago and since then had been engaged in farming.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Williams of Des Moines; a grandson, David Schoonover of Des Moines; and a brother, Jasper Conard of St. Charles.

Funeral services were held March 5 from the St. Charles Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Eldon Haworth. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
