M. W. ANDERSON OF DESOTO DIES

Heart Attack Fatal Last Thursday at Age of 84 Years

M. W. Anderson, a resident of the town of DeSoto for three quarters of a century, died there last Thursday, March 8, at the age of 84 years. He was fatally stricken with a heart attack while down town in DeSoto.

Mr. Anderson was a native of Missouri, where he was born at Eagleville on Nov. 28, 1871, a son of John and Minerva Perry Anderson. When he was a small boy he came to Winterset with his parents, and started to school here at the North ward the first year that building was operated. After two years here, the family moved to DeSoto, and his home had been there for 75 years, with the exception of brief periods in Winterset and Des Moines.

At DeSoto he followed the blacksmith trade for 25 years, then operated the brick and tile works for about 15 years. From 1915 to 1930 he was in the garage business there.

He was a life-long member of the Methodist church, and long was active in the DeSoto church.

Mr. Anderson was married in 1892 to Katie Pearn, who survives him. He also leaves two sons, Neil Anderson of Winterset and Terry Anderson of Kansas City, Mo., two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Maud Smith of Adel.

Funeral services were held Saturday from Anderson's home for funerals in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Walter Samp, pastor of the Methodist church at Adel. Burial was made in the DeSoto cemetery.
