ERNEST ZELLIOTT BURIED AT EARLHAM

Ernest A. Zelliott, prominent Des Moines educator, was buried in the Earlham cemetery, Jan. 31, following his death on Jan. 27 at a Des Moines hospital.

Mr. Zelliott was born in Dallas county, near Earlham, in 1884, and was 71 years of age at his death.

For 17 years he was director of business education in the Des Moines public schools. He was an author and co-author of bookkeeping texts, and was widely known as a lecturer in that field.

He was a member of the Friends' church in Des Moines.

He was married about 1910 to Minnie Hadley of Earlham, who survives him. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Piburn of South Rhodesia, Africa, and Eleanor Zelliott of Richmond, Ind.; in addition to two sisters and a brother.

Funeral services were held in Des Moines, after which the body was brought to Earlham for burial.

E. A. Zelliot Buried Here Tuesday

Ernest A. Zelliot, 71, who retired in 1954 after 17 years as director of business education in the Des Moines public schools, died of cancer Friday at Iowa Methodist hospital.

Mr. Zelliot, who lived at 1006 Forty-fourth place, entered the hospital six weeks ago. He had been in ill health three years.

Born on a Dallas county farm near Earlham, Mr. Zelliot was graduated from Earlham high school. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Penn College, Oskaloosa, his bachelor of science degree from Drake University, and his master of education degree from Harvard University.

For a number of years, he was a lecturer at the State University of Iowa and other universities during summer school sessions. He wrote for business periodicals and was co-author of bookkeeping texts.

Services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home with burial in the cemetery at Earlham.
