The body of Mrs. A. L. Stout, former Winterset resident whose death occurred Sunday, Feb. 5 at Siloam Springs, Arkansas was brought to Winterset last Thursday for burial in the cemetery here. Graveside services were held at the cemetery, conducted by the Rev. George DeF. Fisher, pastor of the Winterset Presbyterian church.
Mrs. Stout was the widow of A. L. Stout, who for many years, prior to his death in 1921, was assistant cashier of the old Madison County bank in Winterset. She was 87 years of age at her death.
She was the former Lulu May MacBride, daughter of Charles and Sarah Johnson MacBride, and was born in Madison county, near Earlham. As a young woman, she was married to Abraham Lincoln Stout, of Winterset. They made their home here until his death in 1921, after which she moved to Iowa City. From Iowa City, she moved to Siloam Springs, Ark., in 1936.
Mrs. Stout was the mother of six sons, George Stout of Boston, Mass., Albert Stout of Siloam Springs, Ark., Charles Stout of Colorado Springs, Colo., Edwin Stout of Washington, D. C., and Philip Stout of Boulder, Colo. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a son Robert died while the family resided in Winterset.
