Fredrick Roswell Parker Sr., 78, of Wick died of heart failure Nov. 15, 2002 at his home.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 18, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with Steve Anderson officiating. Burial was at Wallace Cemetery, Wick.
Fredrick Parker, Sr. was born March 24, 1924, to Francis Roswell and Nora Leona (Peterson) Parker of rural Norwalk. He was a 1942 graduate of St. Charles High School. On March 28, 1945, he married Lila Louise Roby at the Christian Church parsonage in Winterset. A resident of Wick for the past 40 years. Fredrick was a self-employed carpenter and former farmer. He also worked for 15 years at Adventureland in Altoona as a construction foreman before retiring in 1989. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving with the Seabees during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister and a brother.
He is survived by four sons, Fredrick Parker Jr. (wife Imson) and Richard Parker (wife Laura) both of Wick, William Parker Sr. (wife Rose) of St. Marys and James Parker Sr. (wife Debra) of Prole; three daughters, Judith Parker of Wick, Cheryl Sinclair of Altoona and Lucinda Parker of West Des Moines; a brother, Robert Parker (wife Ann) of Indianola; two sisters, Dorothy Warren of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Lucille Pillow of Mesa, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
