Lucille Palmer, Winterset

Lucille Palmer, 94, died of heart failure Sept. 11, 2001, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in California.

Lucille Palmer was born April 19, 1907 to Perry Morse and Goldie Hildreth (Brooke) Cushing of Charlotte, Mich. She was educated in the Lansing, Mich. School District. She married her second husband, Oakley B. Palmer on Aug. 15, 1963 in California. A resident of Winterset for the past two years, she had previously resided in southern Calfornia and prior to that Michigan. She also spent five years in Mexico. Lucille had been employed as an insurance adjuster for many years in the Civil Service and U. S. Navy in Long Beach, Calif. She later worked with her husband, Oakley, in their medical equipment manufacturing business, also in California. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband (Carroll), a sister and a brother.

She is survived by her husband, Oakley of St. Charles; a stepson, Clayborne Allen Palmer of Carlsbad, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Sally Yonce of St. Charles; six stepgrandchildren; and 16 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
